BRISBANE, Calif., http://www.hitachi.us/, March 9, 2001 - Legacy Storage Systems Corp., a Markham, Ontario based Mass Storage Manufacturer, announced today that it has qualified Hitachi's DK30CJ line of high-end SCSI and Fibre Channel disk drives for use in its UDSS™ and Netmate™ Product lines offering SCSI, Fibre and NAS RAID and Optical Storage Systems.

Hitachi's 73GB 10,000RPM U160 disk drive was selected for inclusion in Legacy's storage system after undergoing numerous performance and quality tests. Systems are also available with 36GB and 18GB drive capacity points. Hitachi's family of DK30CJ disk drives includes MR heads, GMEEPRML read channels and fast rotational disc speeds. These functions give Hitachi's 3.5-inch drives the capacity to effectively and reliably support the high data transfer needs of Legacy's UDSS™ and Netmate™ storage systems.

"Hitachi is an industry leader in Disk Storage Technology and we will benefit greatly from the relationship," stated Paul Chan, vice president of Legacy. "We're currently testing their Fibre Channel Disks with our new Fibre Channel Backplanes also. The reliability of Hitachi disks will contribute greatly to our Clusterstor™ SSP Initiative currently in development."

"We are pleased to join forces with Legacy," said Gary Galusha, vice president of hard disk drives sales and marketing for Hitachi America's Computer Division, Storage Products Group. "Powerful storage solutions are critical for businesses operating in today's competitive and demanding climate."
