Hitachi Kokusai Electric Comark Announces the “Repack Optimized” E‐Compact Air Cooled Transmitter Family at NAB‐2017

Southwick, MA, April 12, 2017 ― Hitachi Kokusai Electric Comark LLC (hereinafter “COMARK”), a manufacturer and supplier of DTV transmitters, encoding systems, and associated field services for over 45 years, has announced the introduction of the Repack Optimized E-Compact series of high efficiency air cooled solid state UHF DTV transmitters.

E-Compact air cooled DTV transmitters have been optimized for the US repack market. It now incorporates the latest broadband Doherty amplifiers using the same LDMOS device as the company’s award winning PARALLAX UHF liquid cooled Doherty transmitter family.

The E-Compact has been upgraded with asymmetric broadband Doherty solid state amplifier technology; requiring less energy to deliver more power. The heart of the transmitter is a 950W 3RU amplifier chassis. Thanks to the latest LDMOS FET technology, the amplifier is rated at the same power level for either ATSC 1.0 (8VSB) or ATSC 3.0 (OFDM). E-Compact is available in Transmitter Power Output (TPO) levels from 850W to more than 10kW.

The E-Compact platform is compact and rugged, perfectly suited for broadcasters looking to upgrade or replace older less efficient equipment currently at their TV stations or for future ATSC 3.0 SFN systems.

The PA design includes Quick Coupling System for easy maintenance of the PA drawers (Hot Swappable). The Automatic Cooling Fan Speed Control provides lower acoustic noise levels during operation. The product features the EXACT-V2 “IP Optimized” DTV exciter with “DualCast” technology; it is easily upgraded from ATSC 1.0 to 3.0; protecting investment today for use tomorrow.

User control and monitoring is simple with the E-Compact – a front panel man-machine interface provides the basics while a built-in web server allows more in-depth metrics and control. And an optional SNMP client is available for broadcasters that want remote access back to a central network operations center (NOC). The E-Compact transmitter will be on display at the Hitachi Kokusai Electric Group’s booth, located at C4309.
