Hitachi and The Hitachi Foundation Announce Support to Aid Victims of Hurricane Katrina and Affected Areas

TOKYO, Japan, September 6, 2005 --- Hitachi, Ltd.(NYSE:HIT/TSE:6501) and The Hitachi Foundation, today pledged a total of US$1 million in support to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina and assist restoration efforts in affected areas. "The devastation along the gulf coast of the United States is yet another stark reminder that we are part of a global community. We at Hitachi respond in times of need," said Hiroaki Nakanishi, Chief Executive for North America of Hitachi, Ltd., a Japanese-based global corporation with major operations throughout North America.
