25-Year Hitachi Veteran Brings Digital Printer Engineering, Business Management Focus to Lead Company's New Strategic Direction
SIMI VALLEY, CALIF, Jan. 9, 2001-The board of directors of Hitachi Koki Imaging Solutions, Inc. (HiKIS), a global leader in the digital networked printer market, announced Motohisa Nishihara has relinquished his responsibilities as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer to devote his efforts full-time at the parent company, Hitachi Koki Company, Ltd. (HKK), one of the world's most advanced printer manufacturers. HiKIS board member Yasuyuki Tsuji has been elected chairman, succeeding Nishihara at HiKIS.
Yasuo Kikuchi, HiKIS deputy chairman and deputy chief executive officer, succeeds Nishihara as chief executive officer and also assumes additional responsibilities as president, succeeding Michael T. Stramaglio, who has left the company. Gary Campbell assumes Stramaglio's role as chief operating officer.
HiKIS said the management changes reflect a new strategic direction, focusing on its core competencies in engineering and software development. Noting that analog products are rapidly phasing out of the market place, the company said it is positioning itself to deliver technologically superior products and services that meet the digital document printing, copier and distribution requirements of today's globally-connected businesses.
Kikuchi brings a long history of digital printer engineering and business management experience to his newly expanded position. He initially joined HKK in 1975 following his graduation from Tohoku University with a Master of Science degree in physics. While at HKK, he was responsible for both the engineering and business management of the laser printer engineering team, and he managed the development of many of Hitachi's highly successful laser printer products. In 1995, he was named general manager of printer design for HKK's Printer Division, directing the work of more than 100 engineers, and joined HiKIS four years later.
