Pace University and Hitachi America, Ltd. Encourage Nonprofits to Adapt to a Changing World on March 6, 2013

—Hosting Free Program on Changes Nonprofits Are Facing—

(Tarrytown, NY) March 4, 2013 – Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (located in Tarrytown, NY, and Pace University’s Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship are co-sponsoring a free, full-morning education program for nonprofit professionals focused on the changing landscape of the nonprofit sector.

This year’s program is entitled “Adapting to a Changing Landscape: Nonprofit Operations, Policy Changes and Giving and Careers.” The session will explore the dramatic shifts that are taking in place within the nonprofit sector, the changing landscape for fundraisers, the ever-increasing competencies needed to succeed professionally and changes in federal policy and legislation that will impact the way nonprofits operate and raise funds. Speakers will discuss some of the key challenges and opportunities within their sector, as well as how they are adapting within their organizations to address these issues. The forum will also highlight skills and experiences that each speaker sees as essential to careers and leadership in their fields. Panelists include a director of institutional giving, a professor of Public Administration, the Executive Director of an organization that provides free supportive services to cancer patients, and a VP for enrollment management and placement in higher education.

The program will take place at Pace University’s Graduate Center located in downtown White Plains, NY and will run from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. The campus is located at 1 Martine Avenue. Registration and a light breakfast will begin at 9:00 am and the panel discussion will begin at 10:00 am. Media admission by press pass.

This is the fifth year that Hitachi America, Ltd. has spearheaded this program and the fourth year that Pace University’s Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship has served as a co-sponsor.

The Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship was created in 2005 to serve the nonprofit community and Pace University. The Center provides scholarly research, academic programs, advisory services and roundtable discussions to encourage excellence and enhance managerial leadership skills of professionals within the nonprofit sector.
